Eligibility for the CSP Certification

To be eligible for the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification, candidates must:

  • Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Have at least four (4) years of professional safety experience, with responsibilities in safety at a minimum of 50%, involving preventive, professional-level duties with substantial breadth and depth.
  • Possess a BCSP Qualified Credential, which may include:
    • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
    • Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)
    • Transitional Safety Practitioner (TSP)
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist® (CIH®)
    • Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH)
    • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
    • NEBOSH National or International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
    • Professional Member of the Singapore Institution of Safety Officers (SISO)
    • Diploma/Certificate in Industrial Safety issued by the State Government Departments or Boards of Technical Education in India

Examination Details

The CSP exam is a thorough evaluation of knowledge in safety management, covering essential topics such as:

  • Safety Program Management
  • Risk Management
  • Emergency Response and Preparedness
  • Incident Investigation
  • Environmental and Health Hazards
  • Fire Protection and Prevention
  • Regulatory Compliance (OSHA, ISO, etc.)

Exam Format: Computer-based

Duration: 5.5 hours, consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions

Passing Score: Determined by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) using a scaled scoring system
